The next table contains a 7 page Action Report, dated 29 June,1944,From LCDR William Leide, Commander of LCT Flotillas 12 and 26 during Operation Neptune. The 8th page is Mr. Leide's obituary from the Atlanta newspaper. Ironically, he passed away on June 6, 1984 the 40th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. Click here
The next table contains the Action Report from Lt. Dean Rockwell, Commander of Group 35-LCT Flotilla 12, dated 14 July 1944.The report deals with the operation of the Duplex Drive (DD) Tanks that were designed to "swim" ashore in support of the disembarked infantry. Their performance fell far short of expectations. This Action Report includes endorsements from Flotilla 12 Commander Bill Leide and Commander of Assault Force "O" Admiral J. L. Hall Jr. The last page is the handwritten Action Report from the Skipper of LCT 590, one of the LCTs in Force "O-2". Click here
