The following is from an action report by the skipper of LCT(A) 2008

LCT(A) 2008-Ray Cluster, Gunfire Support Group. Scheduled for Fox Green beach, H-Hour, carrying tanks of Co C 741 Tank Bn firing afloat going into the beach. Towed LCM with Army Engineer  team #16 and NCDU team #141, Ens. Stocking, OinC. Developed difficulty with a slack ramp cable which finally parted. Tided the cable to a tank which backed up to close the ramp. All this delayed beaching until 0800, two engines useless because of propellers fouled by debris. Ramp lost at the beach. Always under machine gun fire. Managed to retract and return to transport area with one engine. Next day took a load of infantry to the beach and received a new ramp, un-fouled the propellers at low tide and was operational for the next 11 days until stranded and disabled on the beach by the storm.
