LCT 81 as it was launched
from LST 213 4 January, 1944 at Betio Anchorage, Tarawa Atoll.
The officer that recorded the log entry for this event sent in this photo. You can tell that the LST has taken on a starboard list and the 81 is moments away from sliding off the deck. Douglas Swanson believes that these two sailors are from his crew. His son Ron, says that the one at the left sure looks like his dad on the original print. |
