2007 Reunion
Operation Bayou, the 2007 Reunion of LCT
Flotillas of World War II, was a rousing success, with several veterans and
family members attending for the first time.
The trips to the National WWII Museum in New Orleans and the USS Kidd
were great. The memorial service
aboard the USS Kidd was very moving. Thank
you to Clarence Gramling for his heart felt invocation and to his daughter,
Martha Ann Stuckey, who graciously read a beautiful letter from Rep. Henry E.
Brown, Congressman of the First District of South Carolina (the letter will soon
be posted on our website, www.WW2LCT.org).
The three-shot salute from the 5” gun was incredible (thank goodness
they only used a 1 lb. charge rather than the normal 17 lb. charge).
The banquet was great and the Sunday breakfast buffet was a wonderful way
for everyone to get together one last time, before heading their separate ways.
